We all knew the Funko Pop! "The Office" advent calendar from last year was going to be hard to top, but the Funko Pop! "Star Wars" advent calendar looked like a worthy competitor.
Alas, a last-minute switcheroo left me with the "Star Wars" Lego calendar, which has been a massive hit in our family in recent years -- so not exactly a crushing ad lib.
The first five days of the calendar have served as a loving tribute to the 10th anniversary of "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones." With a head nod to the indispensable Jay's Brick Blog for insights and occasional instruction, here's what we have so far:
Day 1: Republic Gunship
Day 2: Clone Trooper Commander
Day 3: Droid Tri-Fighter
Day 4: Acclamator-Class Assault Ship
Day 5: Battle Droid
The unexpected reveals so far have been the Droid Tri-Fighter and the Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, which I would not have recognized were it not for Jay's Brick Blog and Wookieepedia.
The highlights for me so far have been the impeccably detailed Republic Gunship and the rare yellow Clone Trooper Commander minifigure. The Droid Tri-Fighter is a stellar addition as well.
Thus far, the calendar has primarily honored the Clone Wars. As someone who prefers not to know all the inclusions and doesn't scour the box for clues, I'm hoping that some non-gun-rack surprises remain.
