Day 906, Quasi-Quarantine: Locking Into Retro Baseball In Zebulon

One of the enduring memories of Summer 2022 will be the discovery of and dizzying falling-in-love development with the Carolina Mudcats.

With plenty of seats always available at Five County Stadium, there is lots of leg room and a throwback feel. A pitch clock, 18- and 19-year-olds playing with uncommon passion, a Mini-Muddy mascot, affordable concessions, and generous giveaways all combine to make a Mudcats game a stellar way to spend an afternoon.

We decided to catch the team one last time on their final homestand, and the day was made when our favorite player, Hedbert Perez ("HED-BERT!!!!"), fouled one straight back to our seats, giving us a long-sought souvenir.

Thanks, Mudcats. You made one young man's summer.
